The CBD and Warehouse District is the place to be if you are looking for the trendiest place to live in New Orleans.
The Central Business District of New Orleans, or as the locals say, the CBD is found just outside of the French Quarter. This relatively small section of New Orleans is home to many different types of businesses, office buildings and residential housing. In the CBD, you will find a mixture of luxury hotels, grocery stores, retail shopping, restaurants and fun pubs and bars. This area is also home to high-rise office towers, charming historical buildings that are now business offices and plenty of pedestrian traffic that often gives this small area a big city feel. Farther afield, moving toward the outskirts of the CBD is the Super Dome, home of the New Orleans Saints, more hotels, high-rise office buildings and a huge major medical complex.
In very center of the CBD is Lafayette Square. This lovely park is the perfect place to have lunch with friends or coworkers when the weather is nice outside. It also becomes the venue for free outdoor concerts in the months of March through May for a concert series known as Wednesdays at the Square.
Just adjacent to the CBD is the Warehouse District, which has flourished since the 1984 World’s Fair as an urban residential area. This super trendy area is comprised mostly contemporary apartments and condominiums, art galleries, restaurants, museums and hotels. For young professionals looking for the trendiest place to live in the city, this is it.
